Application Instructions

Surface Preparation:

Natural wood floors:

  • Sand to 100-120 grit using NWFA approved methods
  • Screen with a 100-120 grit screen.
  • Remove all sanding dust from the floor by thoroughly vacuuming and tack with a Glitsa Tack Mop.
  • At this time a first coat may be applied.

Stained floors:

  • Sand to 100-120 grit using NWFA approved methods.
  • Screen with a 100-120 grit screen.
  • Remove all sanding dust from the floor by thoroughly vacuuming and tacking with a dry Glitsa Tack Mop.
  • Refer to directions on Glitsa Gold Seal Stains for application procedures and dry times.
  • After stains are thoroughly dry, apply seal coat.

Note: It is the contractor’s responsibility to ensure the stain is thoroughly dry prior to coating with waterborne finishes.

Due to seasonal expansion and contraction of wood floors, white lines may appear over dark-stained floors.

Application Instructions:

Three coats of Glitsa Pro, or one coat of TruSeal waterborne sealer and two coats of Glitsa Pro, are recommended to achieve a durable, scuff resistant finish. High humidity, or low temperatures will extend dry times. Make sure to have indirect ventilation while applying Glitsa Pro. Always strain waterborne finishes that have been stored in partially full containers.

Shake Glitsa Pro for 15 seconds to ensure even distribution of flattening agents. Allow 10-15 minutes for foam generated from shaking to dissipate before coating.

Apply Glitsa Pro by using a lightweight T-bar. Make sure to use a new, lightly water-dampened applicator.

Start by pouring a 3” – 5” puddle of Glitsa Pro with the grain of the wood, from-wall to-wall. Using the snowplow method, pull the Glitsa Pro with the grain of the wood, from wall to wall. Use a cut-in pad or a T-bar to feather out turns.

Maintain a 3” – 5” puddle at all times, to help ensure even coverage and a uniform final appearance.

When Glitsa Pro has dried to the touch, ventilate premises, while maintaining temperatures of at least 60° F (15.6°C). Optimum air quality is achieved through aggressive ventilation.

Allow Glitsa Pro to dry 3 – 5 hours before additional coats are applied.

Once dry, abrade with a conditioning pad and 180 – 240 grit or finer sanding strips. Vacuum carefully and tack with a clean, water-dampened, Glitsa Tack Mop.

For additional coats follow previous application instructions.

Apply no more than two coats in a 24-hour period.
